Ahead of the season finale of HBO's Game of Thrones this coming weekend, Nuno Battencourt (Extreme), Tom Morello (Rage against the Machine & Audioslave), Scott Ian (Anthrax), Brad Paisley (singer/songwriter), Dan Weiss (HBO's Game of Thrones' showrunner) and Ramin Djawadi (composer) got together with Fender Custom Shop's made-to-order electric guitars (dubbed House Stark Telecaster, House Lannister Jaguar and House Targaryen Stratocaster) and re-interpreted Djawadi's GoT opening theme. It's actually amazing to watch Djawadi (who also composed for films and TV shows like Pacific Rim, Clash of the Titans, Westworld and Prison Break) shred along with the guitar rock gods. The made-to-order electric guitars were made by Principal Master Builder Ron Thorn, who used the house's family symbolism like costume color and themes, sigil and weapon styles for the design. If you want to know how much they cost, the prices for the three guitars are USD25,000, USD30,000 and USD35,000. No prizes if you guessed the House Targaryen Stratocaster guitar as the most expensive (and House Stark Telecaster as the cheapest among the three), but note that the former is the priciest due to an etched neck plate finished with lacquer over custom "Dragonglass Black" paint. You can get more details here. LATEST WRITER MUSINGS:
